How To Reduce The Signs Of Aging
Preventing aging is impossible. However, it is possible to reduce it. It is vital to ensure that you are in control of your aging process. As we progress in age, our skin is bound to suffer. Two major factors can determine the aging of our skin. These are the intrinsic aging and extrinsic aging.
The Intrinsic aging refers to the normal aging that takes place as a result of advancement in age. Extrinsic aging, on the other hand, is aging that influenced by the external conditions. The factors may include the exposure to the sun's UV rays, the foods that we take in our bodies as well as the products that we use on our skin. The underlying of our skin are proteins that enhance the firmness of our skin. It is a complex network of fiber. Majorly it comprises of collagen as well as elastin. The protein ensures that our skin returns to its original place after stretching. As we advance in years, there is a weakening of the meshwork. It contributes to the sagging of the skin. The skin also loses fats and becomes thinner. Other factors also contribute to increasing sagging such as the gravity and our genetic code.
Exposure to the sun's UV rays
Exposure to the sun's UV rays is detrimental to the skin. When these rays penetrate the skin, they cause the elasticity of the skin to weaken. It causes sagging of the skin. It allows the formation of wrinkles on the surface of the skin. Exposure to the sun is also the cause of age spots to all the parts of the body that are exposed. The degree of the wrinkles is dependent upon the duration of exposure to the sun. It is important to use sunscreens to reduce this effect of the UV rays. The sunlight between 7 am, and 10 am is the only period that we can get the essential nutrients from the sun. However, past this time, the exposure of our skin to the UV rays becomes harmful to our skin.
Balanced diet
Always ensure to nourish your body with the essential nutrients. A balanced diet enhances our skins capacity to remain healthy and youthful. Make vegetables as well as fruits your daily delicacies. White meat is also recommended. Ensure also that you regularly take more than five glasses of water frequently. Strict diets are only to be used under the advice of the doctor depending on your condition.
Don’t over indulge in supplements
As we grow older, our bodies tend to lose its strength in metabolisms and the immune system. It means that we need to boost our bodies to maintain our immune system. It may include the use of supplements that facilitate in our metabolism. However, when this is overdone, it can result in damage to our skin.
Regular exercises
Most people tend to avoid exercises and rely on diets. Over time, we tend to use a lot of money trying to return our bodies to shape instead of using the free exercises. Exercise enhances blood flow in our bodies that ultimately results in healthy skin and bodies. Those that have regular workouts are healthier than those that rely on drugs.
Avoid smoking
Smoking can cause fine lines under eyes and wrinkles on the skin. It is attributed to the damage that is caused by the chemicals in tobacco smoke. It is also caused by the reduced flow of the blood, particularly to the head. Squinting in smokers further contributes to wrinkles. Tobacco smokers are prone to the crows feet attributed to long-time usage. Their skin is also saggy especially near the eyes thus necessitating the use of eye cream. By quitting smoking, it will result in a youthful skin.
Quit drinking alcohol
Excessive consumption of alcohol has detrimental effects on the skin. Those with the habit of drinking alcohol also tend to deprive their body of the essential nutrients. It is attributed to their unhealthy diets. The nutrients are critical to maintaining a healthy skin and, in general, the whole body. When this happens, aging skin is inevitable.
Take antioxidants
They are vital for the maintenance of a healthy skin. These include Vitamin A, E and C. Vitamin B is also essential in the body. These nutrients can be found in servings of fish as well as fruits and vegetables.
Conclusion
Our parents may have given us genes of healthy skin, but if we do not take care of our skin, we may live never to understand the gift that we had. However, it is possible to age with reduced signs of aging by the actions that we choose to take.
